John explores the landscape from varying perspectives - from close up and intimate to the distant and silent - and the way these points of view influence his experiences of land and water. Utilizing digital photographs of biotic material from regional Wisconsin and urban parklands, Steve’s exhibition presents artistic visions of natural process and forms that ask, “why not?” Refreshments served.

Low Genetic Variability in Galapagos Birds: 
Implications for Conservation
Genes play an important role in recognizing infections and initiating an immune response. Two Galapagos species, hawks and penguins, have lower genetic variability than closely related species on the mainland. These conditions will affect management strategies should new diseases be introduced to the islands.

Beginning T’ai Chi
Start the new decade with a new approach to physical fitness and mental/spiritual well being. Often called “meditation in motion”, T’ai Chi promotes balance and strength along with a flexible, relaxed and integrated body and mind. This gentle exercise is great for all levels of physical ability. Come experience T’ai Chi to see why it has been practiced by so many for hundreds of years. This class will be held weekly for 3 months.

Birding the Mississippi in Winter
Join us for a birding weekend with destinations in both northwestern Illinois and northeastern Iowa. We will see many, many Bald Eagles, other raptors (which could include Rough-legged and Red-shouldered Hawks), many winter passerines, some waterfowl, open-country birds such as Longspurs, Snow Buntings, Northern Shrike and the potential for a few owls and all woodpecker species.

Demonstration and Lecture presented by Raw Food Chef Jennifer Janz
Raw food preparation is a technique for preparing delicious foods that retains the most nutrients and enzymes from fresh unprocessed vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds. Learn the basic foods, techniques and equipment for creating raw food crackers, breads, dairy-free milk and cheese, snacks, entrees, beverages and even desserts. Food tasting to follow class.

Beginning T’ai Chi
Start the new decade with a new approach to physical fitness and mental/spiritual well being. Often called “meditation in motion”, T’ai Chi promotes balance and strength along with a flexible, relaxed and integrated body and mind. This gentle exercise is great for all levels of physical ability. Come experience T’ai Chi to see why it has been practiced by so many for hundreds of years. This class will be held weekly for 3 months.
