Urban Ecology Center Summer Camps
are definitely fun, but there's so much more to it than that. Summer Camp helps your child build self esteem, outdoor skills and ecological intelligence. Campers make new friends as they explore the natural world together.
The same professional environmental educators that teach our school programs are ready to engage your kids in topics and activities that interest them.
With one staff per 6 campers, your child is assured a personal, inclusive experience at camp.
Research shows that two things make a person environmentally aware: consistent contact with nature early in life and an adult mentor (parent, teacher, friend, Urban Ecology Center educator) who demonstrates positive behavior toward the environment. Think of summer camp as the first step toward a greener future.
But enough with the serious stuff, your kids are really here for the fun! Rock climbing, science experiments, art projects, gardening -- playing in dirt and water -- that's what your children will remember. We'll keep it between us that summer camp will help them be better prepared for school in the fall.

Menomonee Valley adventure
While our Menomonee Valley Center doors won’t officially open until the fall of 2012, there is plenty to do and see in the Valley:
Explore the Valley Passage, which re-establishes a historic connection from Milwaukee’s south side to the Menomonee Valley.
Bike the Hank Aaron State Trail which runs east/west along the Menomonee River.
Visit Stormwater Park and observe the native plants, woodlands, and newtopography that detains flood water from entering our lakes and rivers.
Watch for wildlife along the Menomonee River. Just yesterday we saw a Great Blue Heron and a Red-Tailed Hawk!
This Fall, take advantage of all the Valley has to offer!
Winter Lecture Series at Washington Park
From Denali to Hati to Afghanistan, there is so much to discover about the world around us! Spend this winter learning and growing during our new lecture series in Washington Park.
