Position Summary: The primary role of this part time position is to lead evening and Saturday programs for the community, including Center members, families, volunteer groups and youth groups. Ecology programs include a Saturday animal feeding, fishing lessons, and family programs. The Community Program Coordinator is responsible for organizing building logistics, maintaining a safe environment for visitors of all ages. As a representative of the Center, this position will stay current on happenings at the Center and serve as a liaison to the community. The Community Program Coordinator supervises high school interns and takes a leadership role in organizing special events. This person also works closely with the Program Director in recruiting, organizing and supervising volunteers. This position will assist with daily operations of the Urban Ecology Center, including program development and newsletter production. The Community Program Coordinator reports to the Washington Park Program Director.
Qualifications: BS or BA in natural sciences, recreation, education or related area with a minimum of one year teaching science or environmental education in a formal or non-formal setting. Experience organizing events and working with volunteers is required. Excellent oral and written communication skills desired. Experience teaching a broad range of ages desirable. Proven experience with urban youth a plus.
Salary: $12.50/hour for 25 hours/week, with room for advancement Closing date: When filled
