Whether they are providing fresh produce to urban residents or simply a beautiful enhancement to the lanscape, these Community Gardens help fill an important need and connect people back to the land. Many bicyclists have commented on how they enjoy the gardens during their commutes.
Community gardens consist of raised bed garden plots, 10’x10’, (may be increased to 15’x10’ by the beginning of the season). The soil is excellent and water is readily available. Pesticide use is prohibited. UW Extension provides technical assistance, but gardeners are responsible for tending and maintaining plots throughout the growing season.
