Animals tracks in the snow

About this event

Every winter morning, your neighborhood is covered in secret messages, and most of us walk right past them. That odd little pellet by the trail? A clue. Those tiny prints stitched across fresh snow? A story. The gnawed twig, the scuffed-up leaf litter, the mysterious hole at the base of a tree? All of it is a note left behind by the wildlife neighbors we share our city with.

Join the Urban Ecology Center for an adult crash course in reading the signs of common neighborhood wildlife in winter. Snow and cold make animal activity easier to spot than any other time of year, which makes this the perfect season to become a backyard detective.

No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to get a little nerdy about poop. You’ll never look at a snowy walk the same way again.

Come for the gross-out humor, stay for the “wait, that was a mink?” moments. Bring a friend, dress warm, and get ready to follow the trail.
