Answers to your

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the program minimum and maximum number of participants?
  • Minimum: 10 participants
  • Maximum: 20 participants
  • UEC to You programs require a 10 youth to 1 adult ratio for all participants.
Where do you travel to?

We travel anywhere in Milwaukee County, with priority given to City of Milwaukee neighborhoods.

Your location must have bathroom access for participants and UEC staff.
Programs include at least 30 minutes outdoors during our 60-minute session.

How should we dress?

Participants should dress appropriately for the weather.

In inclement weather, outdoor activities may be shortened or modified, but unless the weather is severe, we aim to remain outside.

The UEC can provide extra layers, including hats and mittens, for participants if needed.

What is the UEC’s payment policy?

To keep the scheduling process simple and fair for all groups, we ask that payments are made according to the following timeline:

  • Deposit: A deposit is required within one week of booking to hold your program date and confirm your reservation.
  • Final Payment: The remaining balance is due two weeks before your program date.

If full payment is not received by the deadline, your program will be cancelled and the deposit will be retained.

We appreciate your understanding and look forward to creating a great experience with you!

Forms of Payment accepted:

  • Credit card -- via phone at time of booking
  • Invoice -- payable via credit card online with the Quickbooks Invoicing System
  • Check -- due by dates outlined in contracts.
What about program service contracts?

A program service contract will be emailed to your organization/group representative upon booking.

The contract must be reviewed, signed, and returned to programs@urbanecologycenter.org within one week of receipt to secure your program date.

Contracts returned after this window may result in your program date and services not being guaranteed.

What is the Cancellation Policy?

We know plans can change! If you cancel more than two weeks before your program date, your deposit will be refunded. Cancellations within two weeks forfeit the deposit, and cancellations within 48 hours or no-shows will be charged the full program fee.

If unexpected circumstances arise, please contact the Program Director right away to discuss alternative arrangements.

What is the weather policy?

The Urban Ecology Center follows strict outdoor safety and weather policies, including severe weather and unsafe air quality conditions.

If weather is questionable, the UEC will determine if a program should be canceled.

We honor your organization’s severe weather policy. If a cancellation occurs, you will receive a full refund.

Can programs accommodate individuals with specific needs?

Yes! Programs can be modified for individuals with specific needs.
Please communicate any accommodations at the time of booking so we can prepare appropriately.
