We’re all looking to be part of something

Like nature itself, we’re always growing and evolving.

Beginning in June, 2023 we shifted the way we connect people with the outdoors by introducing Take It Outside Days.

These monthly events pop up across our three branches and spotlight different outdoor activities — from kayaking and canoeing to snowshoeing, biking, and even camping skills. No packing. No driving. No previous experience. Just free, joyful moments outside, right in the heart of the city.

We set up the gear. We teach you how to use it. We explore together.

We know many folks remember us as “the place you could rent snowshoes or a kayak.” And for years, that was true! But as our mission and understanding of the needs of our community evolved, we realized something: access to nature shouldn’t depend on having a car, time off, or the ability to transport gear out of the city.

Take It Outside Days happen in every season of the year!

The best part about Take It Outside Days: they are 100% free.

How?

Because of people like you.

More specifically, because of the folks in the Hive — our growing community of monthly donors who believe everyone should have access to the outdoors. People like this parent, who shared:

“We give monthly because we have a newborn son and want to make sure that he and other children are able to experience nature, even though they are city dwellers.”

Their support ensures that anyone — no matter where they live, how much gear they own, or how experienced they are — can show up, learn something new, and feel at home in nature.

So, want to be part of something bigger? Join the Hive. 🐝

Let’s Take It Outside — together.
